Obituary for Margaret Elizabeth "Margie" Washburn (Atkinson)

Margaret Elizabeth "Margie" Washburn (Atkinson)
MARGARET ELIZABETH WASHBURN, 70, of Paris, went to be with her Lord and Savior from Dubuis Hospital in Paris on Monday March 7, 2016. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday March 9, 2016 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Cemtery in Cunningham.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday March 8, 2016 at the funeral home.

Margie was born July 9, 1945 in Paris, a daughter of John Lee and Elma Louise Burkett Atkinson. She was a graduate of Cunningham High School, then attended Paris Junior College, becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Paris Medical Plaza. She loved her Lord, and was a faithful member of the Word of Life Fellowship.

Life was not always easy for Margaret, but her service to others helped to guide her footsteps, especially in the dark days following the loss of her son Terry Atkinson, in 1985.

She is survived by two sisters, Glenda Owens and Jeannie Brown, both of Blossom; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

If desired, memorial contributions in Margie’s name may be made to the Word of Life Fellowship, 1225 N.W. Loop 286, Paris, Texas 75460.
