Obituary for Jack E. Adamson
JACK E. ADAMSON, of Paris, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at Stillhouse Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center at the age of 81. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct graveside rites at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday August 27, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery, with Rev. Ken Cannon officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Jack was born September 28, 1931 in Vernon, Texas to S. O. “Orby” and Eula Adamson. In 1945 the Adamson family moved to Lubbock, Texas, where the family was engaged in agriculture. Jack graduated from Lubbock High School in 1950 and attended Texas Tech University, majoring in Agriculture. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
In 1957 he purchased a farm at McCamey, Texas. It was there he met and married Barbara June Fields on June 14, 1957. In 1959 he and his wife moved to a ranch at Howard, Colorado, which he operated for a number of years. His son, Jack Wesley Adamson was born in Salida, Colorado on August 16, 1959. The family moved back to Lubbock, Texas in 1962 where he farmed and ranched until they moved to Paris in 1971.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Paris; son Wes and wife Lisa Adamson of Powderly, Texas, three grandchildren, Ryan Wesley Adamson and wife, Whitney of Paris, Audra and TrevorPearson of Dallas, Angie and Joshua Holder of Lubbock, Texas, Dustin and Callie White and Eric white, all of Tyler, TX; six great-grandchildren, Aiden and Peyten Adamson, Rex and Raylee Pearson, Grayson Holder and Layton White; a sister, Jane Fielden and husband Bob, of Las Vegas; a niece, Laura Spina and husband Lane, of Las Vegas; and a nephew, Dr. Scott Fielden and wife Jill, of Las Vegas.
He was a true cattleman, spending his life in ranching and farming. In his later years, he traveled the Southwest working as stock manager for numerous dude ranches from New Mexico to Montana. He moved back to Paris in 1998 and remained here until his death.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Heart-To-Heart Hospice, Guardian Home Health and the staff and employee of Stillhouse Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Jack during his last days.
