Obituary for Jo Ann Jones

Jo Ann  Jones
JO ANN FULTON JONES, 66, of Roxton, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed from this life suddenly on Friday July 13, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday July 17, 2012 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home, with Rev. David Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in the McDonald Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

Jo Ann was born April 21, 1946 in McCaskill, Arkansas, a daughter of Burl Theodore and Easther Arlene Mouser Fulton. She graduated from Pine Tree High School, and went on to become a licensed Cosmetologist, operating her own hair salon. A member of the First Baptist Church of Beckville, she demonstrated her love for her Lord throughout her life. She was a selfless, caring, giving individual, who often sacrificed of herself for the benefit of others. An avid geneaologist, she enjoyed trips with her family to discover her heritage. The consummate homemaker, she was an excellent cook. The center of her life was her grandchildren. “Granny JoJo”, as she was called, made the world a better place for all of them. It was said of Jo Ann, “She could make sunshine in the rain.”

Jo Ann was married to Jay Lynn Jones on April 20, 1990 in Gregg County. He survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father Mearl A. Pickett; and by one brother, Burl Leon Fulton.

Survivors include her husband Jay Lynn, of the home; a son, Frank Bass and wife Melanie, of New Braunfels; a step-daughter, Christey Clayton and husband Tony, of Mt. Vernon; a step-son, Jason Jones and wife Suzun, of Alba; seven grandchildren, Bailey Bass, Blake Bass, Megan Clayton, Dillon Clayton, Jacey Clayton, Mason Jones and Daylan Jones; two sisters, Brenda Poole, of Diana and Betty Hall, of Gilmer; two brothers, Robert Fulton, of Gilmer and James Fulton, of Blevins, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Frank Bass, Jason Jones, Tony Clayton, Dillon Clayton David Goodwin, and David Davis. Named as an honorary pallbearer is Blake Bass.
