Condolences

Condolence From: Kirk Standerfer
Condolence: Terrell was my Great-Uncle and my memories of him are mostly from my younger years visiting him and Merrell at the store. As a kid, Grandpa (Terrel's older brother, Auther) would take my bother and I to Boyd's Jewelers in Paris. When you are a kid and all you know is your Uncles own a jewelry store you just think how neat that is. He and Merrell would always bring us to the back of the store, chat with us, joke around and make us feel welcome and loved. At that age I was unaware of what he had gone through in WW2 and how decorated of a soldier he was. He never talked about it then - at least not with us. As he opened up in his later years he shared many stories with me and my Mother that I will never ever forget. Mom and I were able to have lunch with him & Dorothy in June of last year. The photo that Alan took of the two of us together I now cherish more than I ever knew I would and I have looked at it every day since he has passed. I am HONORED to be related to such a kind, gentle and genuine good man. I can honestly say that he is one of the few who truly inspire me to be a better man myself. It amazes me that someone who saw so much evil, death and destruction at a young age came home with the spirit of a man who would harm no one and would show no hatred, bitterness or anger. Instead, he managed to turn all of those experiences into a positive for every life he touched. It almost defies humanity as we know it. I never once saw him frown, heard him complain or talk bad of anyone. He was always joking around - being silly and fun. Terrell, you did the Boyd name proud (which is common with your generation, as the finest man I ever knew was my Grandpa Boyd) and I salute you and will never forget the inspiration you will always be to me. Merrell, Dorothy, Gary, Greg & Alan - you had one heck of a role model, husband, and brother.

Condolence: I remember Mr Boyd & his twin brother coming into the Paris Dairy Queen all the time when I work there between 1993-1998. I always enjoyed talking with the two of them. They were the sweetest men & talking with them was the highlight of my day. I loved how they would share a package of crackers with each other :-) I remember teasing them asking if the jewelry store was having an all you can carry for 50 cent sale LOL they would just laugh.
I was so sad when I read that he had past on, but I know he is heaven with those who passed before him. I just wanted to let the family know what a sweet man he was & even though I didnt know him well, I will always remember him & his twin as being some of the sweetest men I even knew :-)

Condolence: Terrell was my maternal grandfather's (Auther Boyd) brother. My grandfather was from Sulphur Springs - about 40 miles from Paris. Many times we would make trips to Paris to Terrell's Boyd Jewelers shop and other places. Terrell was always welcoming. He allowed my brother and I to come back in the back of the shop and let us hang out there. He was always willing to let his good sense of humor show. He was a most gentle man and I have nothing but fond memories of him. His family members who were there showed the same kindness.
