Ed Farmer
ED FARMER, age 66, of Paris passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Medical City of Plano. Roden-Pryor Funeral Directors will conduct services 6:00 P.M. Thursday, September 13, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 410 W. Kaufman St. Paris, Texas with Pastor Randall Schreurs officiating.
The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to services.
Edward Dale Farmer was born December 6th, 1951 to Rollin Edward and Kathryn Fuller Farmer in Clovis, New Mexico. Ed was by trade a self-employed dry wall contractor. He helped the community as a volunteer building homes for the Paris/Lamar County Habitat for Humanity. He had a passion for the art of flint knapping, which is the process of chipping away material from high silica stone in a carefully controlled manner to create arrowheads. He served as the President of the Valley of the Caddo Museum & Cultural Center helping them create unique Native American arrowhead exhibits.
On August 11th, 1972, Ed married Zoe Ann Mattingly in Celina, Texas. He shared involvement with both the Baptist and Presbyterian faiths.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Rollin Edward and Kathryn Fuller Farmer.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of forty-six wonderful years, Zoe Farmer; a daughter, Stacy Bethel and husband Anthony; a son, Tate Farmer; two grandchildren, Clayton Farmer and Lindsey Blair Bethel; a sister, Judy Farmer Sellers and husband Buddy; and a niece, Carrie Smith.
Ed was a generous man, who will be missed greatly by those who knew him.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Harrington, Steve Jackson, Glenn Barnett, Larry Bramlett, Jackie Calwell, and Shane Jones.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family has requested that donations be made in Ed’s memory to the Paris/Lamar County Habitat for Humanity, 170 Southeast 8th St. Ste. A, Paris, Texas 75460; or the Valley of the Caddo Museum & Cultural Center, 1115 Bonham St. Paris, Texas 75460.
