Obituary for Brenda Joyce Langland (Mitchell)
Brenda Joyce Mitchell Langland, 74, of Garland, passed away peacefully on Thursday the twenty-fourth of May 2018 surrounded by family. Roden-Pryor Funeral Directors will conduct funeral services 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in their chapel at 425 South Church Street, Paris, Texas, 75460; with Brother Ken Ashlock officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, Texas.
Brenda was born on Friday, January 28, 1944, in Paris, Texas. As a small child she and the family moved to Garland where her father, Jacob “Mitch,” was a police officer for over three decades. She graduated Garland High School in 1962 and began her own family. She worked at Garland ISD tax office for over 25 years before retiring.
She enjoyed family gatherings and time spent with friends; Never meeting a stranger. She thoroughly enjoyed shopping with the granddaughters, as well as spending hours on end researching genealogy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Jacob (“Johnny” and/or “Mitch”) Mitchell, of Garland; and a brother, Tommy Mitchell, also of Garland.
She is survived by husband, Jon Langland; son, Randy Gentry, and wife, Barbara; son, Michael “Aaron” Langland. Three granddaughters, Ticia Rhodes, and husband, Cory; Patricia Mora, and husband, Anthony; and Deanna “Dee Dee.” She also has four great grandchildren, Hudson, Hallie, Henry, and Phillip. A cousin, more like a sister, Barbara Sue Gann. Many cousins and other relatives, as well as her beloved poodle, Shelby.
