Obituary for Johnny Henson

Johnny Cris Henson, age 58, of Midlothian, Texas passed into eternal rest on Monday, January 8, 2018 in Waxahachie, TX. Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, January 11, 2018, with a time of visitation beginning 1 hour prior to service time, both at The Hills Church in North Richland Hills, TX. Mike Washburn and Carl Grassl will be officiating. Committal services will be held at Roden-Pryor Funeral Directors at 4:00 pm that day in Paris, TX with Minister John Cannon officiating. Roden-Pryor Funeral Directors have charge of local arrangements.

Johnny was born on February 13, 1959 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to John Robert and Christine (McLain) Henson. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Finance from New Mexico State University and then attended Sunset School of Preaching and received his degree in Ministry. He then spent 10 plus years in ministry before going to work for AAFES. Johnny retired from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in August 2013 after 23 and a half years of faithful service to our military community. He was a Contracting Officer and a Certified Purchasing Manager.

Johnny loved woodworking, sketching, and fast cars, especially his Corvettes. He was passionate about caring for flower beds and plants and was known for not being able to pass a greenhouse without stopping. He had a heart for talking to people and listening to their stories. He loved his God and was a true child of God, a minister from the age of five. Johnny was loved by all who knew him. He left this world too soon and will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Vickie Henson; a daughter, Alisha Taylor and husband, Johnny; grandchildren, Nathan, Dillon, and Delaney Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jaizlyn and Carter Taylor; his parents, Robert and Christine Henson; sisters, Terry Farmer and husband Mark and Lori Talburt and husband, Wendell; as well as much loved nieces, great-nieces, and a great-nephew.

The family requests that if you so desire, contributions in Johnny's memory be made to the Mission Ministry of The Hills Church. Condolences may be left for the family at RodenPryor.com
