Edward Pitts
Edward Robert Pitts, 82, died December 2, 2017, in Paris, Texas, where he had lived since 1990. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on December 13, 2017, at The Church of The Holy Cross, Episcopal, 400 Church Street in Paris, Texas. Officiating will be The Reverend Craig Reed and The Reverend Jeff Kraemer and The Reverend Betty Clement, Deacon. Interment will be in the church columbarium immediately following the service.
Edward was the son of Charles and Anna Taunitis Pitts. He was born March 29, 1935, in Girardville, Pennsylvania. He attended public school at Butler Township High in Pennsylvania. He served six years with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his discharge Edward went to work for Northeast Airlines in Washington, D.C. His interest in electronics led him to Collins Radio in Dallas, Texas. As his career progressed, he was drawn to manufacturing and spent many years with International Telephone and Telegraph both in Camden, Arkansas, and Red Wing, Minnesota. His business skills provided the opportunity to work and travel around the world. Before becoming a private consultant, he retired from International Utility Structures, Inc., as President of North American Operations.
Edward was involved in community service during his career. He was a member of the Arkansas Industrial Development Council. He served as chairman for the Ouachita Valley Rehabilitation workshop and as chairman for the United Way of Camden, Arkansas. Edward served as President of the Red Wing Country Club and the Paris Golf and Country Club. He was a member of The Church of the Holy Cross, Episcopal. He served on the church endowment committee and was Junior Warden on the church vestry.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years, Evelyn Ruth Kitchens, his son Edward, Jr., his parents, his sister Helen and brother Charles. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Miller Pitts, his daughter Denise Boyer and her husband Steve, his daughter Sharon Stell and her husband Kirk. Other survivors include his sister Mary Jean Sanders and her husband Marshall, his brother Robert Pitts, his brother William Pitts and his wife Jean, his grandchildren Christine Boyer Donatell, Alexandra Boyer, Felicitee Boyer, Trista Bishop, Nicole Thielman and her husband Jordan, Dane Benson, Samuel Pitts, his great grandchildren Sadie Donatell, Davin and Skylee Bishop, and Erik Alexander, and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Robert Campbell, Wayne Clement, Jon Dean, G. Donald Haslam Jr., Robert G.J. Jack, and Homer Thornton.
