Obituary for Wilda A. O'Neal (Peacock)

Wilda O'Neal, age 72, of Detroit, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 in Paris. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Gene Roden Memorial Chapel of Roden-Pryor Funeral Directors. A time of visitation with the family will begin one hour prior to service time.

Wilda was born January 8, 1945 in Bowie County, Texas to J.C. and Effie (Spinks) Peacock. She lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If anything got broken around the house, she could fix it. Wilda loved animals of all kinds and always had a variety of pets around her. She was a fantastic seamstress making clothes for so many folks in Detroit, including formals for the Harvest Festival and FHA uniforms. She was an artist, if you needed it, she would make it. Detroit schools saw many school projects with Wildas touch to them. She was the reason for "slap yo MAMA", her cooking was that good. Most of all she was known for her heart of gold and loving everyone.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Truel and Marvin Peacock and a sister, Evelyn Bowers.

Wilda is survived by her children, Thea O'Neal, Monica O'Neal, Trevor O'Neal and Monty O'Neal, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Lillian Peacock, and a brother, Joel Peacock.

The O'Neal family would like to extend a special thank you to Crystal and Jordan Home Health for the wonderful care provided to their mother and grandmother.
