Obituary for J.E. Gage

J.E. Gage, 77, of Paris, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday December 23rd, 2016 at Stillhouse Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Paris, Texas. Roden-Pryor Funeral Directors will hold services 10:00 a.m. Monday December 26th, 2016 in the Gene Roden Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brad Miller officiating.

J.E. Gage was born June 27, 1939 to Burt W. Gage and Nora Eva Hiser in Choctaw County, Oklahoma. In his younger years, he worked at Brockway Trucking for James Brockway, who remains a close family friend. Later, he worked for many years and eventually retired from the City of Paris’ Parks Department. He loved the outdoors, so never once hesitated to mow a yard or trim a hedge.

J.E. was an avid Forty-Two player and took every opportunity to play with his family and friends, often winning every round. He was of the Baptist faith. Though his body ultimately succumbed to bone cancer, his soul is now walking the streets of gold without any pain or suffering.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Charles Gage and Jerry Gage.

He is survived by a daughter, Jaylene ‘Nora’ Louise, of Norman, Oklahoma; son, Terry Dewayne Gage, of Lubbock, Texas; son, Tony Gage, of Paris, Texas; brother, Bobby Gage, of Burleson, Texas; half-sister, Clovis Gage, of Grand Prairie, Texas; sisters, Mary Dollins, and husband, Gary, of Arthur City, Texas; Virginia Bird, of Paris, Texas; Brenda Elen, of Paris, Texas; Bertha Hess, and husband, Alton, of Paris, Texas; Charlotte Hess, and husband, Larry, of Powderly, Texas; Patricia Farris, and husband, Dewayne, of Pattonville, Texas; as well numerous nieces and nephews that will miss him greatly.
