Obituary for Larry Scott Briscoe

Larry Scott  Briscoe
SCOTT BRISCOE, 59, of Powderly, Texas passed away Tuesday December 13, 2016. Roden-Pryor Funeral Directors will hold services 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 19, 2016, in the Gene Roden Memory Chapel with Rev. Mark Hutchison officiating. Interment will follow at Grant Cemetery in Grant, Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the funeral home.

Scott was born December 30, 1956, the son of Jack Briscoe and Mary Katherine Carroll. He attended Prairiland area schools where he was active in sports including baseball, football, and basketball. After graduation, he began working at Merico in Paris where he worked in all areas of production, and he played Industrial League Softball. While working, he met and married Cynthia Jane Moffitt on January 14, 1989. He retired from the Distribution Department at Sara Lee in 2010.

Scott enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, and travel; especially with family and friends. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and root-rooted for his favorite Texas teams: Cowboys, Rangers, and Mavericks. He was always willing to help those in need and knew no strangers. He loved his time at the farm in Kanawha, Texas and visiting with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Justin Ty; sister, Dorothy Morgan; brother, James Briscoe, and sister-in-law, Gale Briscoe; father-in-law, Donald Moffitt; and a special nephew, Brad Briscoe.

He is survived by a wife, Cindi Briscoe, of the home; daughter, Tara Taylor, of Paris, Texas; daughter, Amy Robbins, of Ft. Worth, Texas; son-in-law, Jason Robbins of Ft. Worth, Texas: grandchildren, Nichole Taylor, of Paris, Texas; Michelle Price, of Paris, Texas; Jayci Robbins, of Ft. Worth, Texas; Jaxon Robbins, of Ft. Worth, Texas; great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Price, of Paris, Texas; Gracelynn Marie Earley, of Paris, Texas; sister, Jolene, and husband, Leo Stellpflug, of Paris, Texas; brother, Robert Briscoe, and wife Mary, of Detroit, Texas; brother, Bill Briscoe, and wife, Nita, of Reno, Texas; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Scott’s memory to the Powderly Methodist Church or the Grant Cemetery.
