Walter Gray Kyle Jr.
Walter Gray (Curly) Kyle, Jr., of Paris, Texas, the much loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, went to be with his Lord & Savior on August 23, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Services honoring his life were held Friday the 26th of August at 2:00 p.m. at the Pavilion at Evergreen Cemetery with Jack Britton Kyle & Mike Fortenberry officiating.

The family greeted friends at the funeral home Thursday August 25th, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

W.G. was born July 16, 1923 in Klondike, Texas to Walter Gray Kyle, Sr., and Inez Pearl Barbee Kyle who preceded him in death along with this siblings Freeman Kyle, Elmo Kyle, Helen Kyle Cox, Douglas Kyle and Eulane Kyle Stratton.

W.G. was a cable splicer at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 39 years after serving in the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry - 5th Regiment under General Douglas McArthur. He saw action in the battle to retake the Philippines and was chosen to carry and raise the American Flag in Tokyo, Japan upon surrender of Japan.

W.G. is survived by his daughter, Sherrie Holbert and husband Bret; two grandsons, Kyle Coston and wife Renee, and Colt Holbert and wife Jerrika; three great-grandchildren, Travis Gray Coston, Kenley Renae Coston and Gray Kyle Holbert. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces and countless friends.

W.G. loved his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the joy of his life! He enjoyed meeting his friends, after retirement from the SWBT Co., for a cup or four of coffee at McKee's daily!
Simply stated, he was the finest Christian dad, grand dad, great-grand dad, brother, son, uncle and friend there could possibly ever be!

Named to serve as pallbearers will be Bret Holbert, Colt Holbert, Kyle Coston, Travis Gray Coston, Ernie Emeyabbi and Brandon Slagle. W.G.’s honorary pallbearers will be former co-workers at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Paul Payne and Travis H. Coston.

The family would like to give special thanks to his provider of many months, Nannette McCarthy, his hospice sitters, Linda Hoofard, Doris Elmore & Heather Stephens, Cypress Basin Hospice, Becki Norment and Dr. Bert Strom.

W.G. requested that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to LCHA (Lamar County Humane Association), Cypress Basin Hospice or Red River Valley Veteran's Memorial.
