Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Douglas Loughmiller can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolences

Condolence From: Tom Holmes, N8ZM
Condolence: I met Doug when he was AMSAT President and I was arranging the forums for the Dayton Hamvention. More recently, I worked with him again to set up the weather balloon launches at Dayton. He was one of the nicest and easiest to work with persons I have ever had the pleasure to know. He was also quite knowledgeable but modest about it. So disappointing to lose him so soon.

Condolence: I am so very saddened to lose my friend Doug with whom I have shared many things since the 1980's. I am so sorry that many commitments prevented me from coming to his funeral. I prayed for my friend and his family every day and he was in my prayer group. God has answered our prayers by taking this good man home. I assure you, he will be missed by his many friends of which I am proud to have been one.

73s Doug, I will miss you. de N4HY AR SK

Condolence: My sympathy to the family. This is a difficult time, and I hope that these promises from the Bible will comfort and support you because Jehovah God cares. He is close to the brokenhearted. And he will wipe out every tear, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. Psalms 34:18; Revelation 21:4. Peace be with you.

Condolence From: Bill Brown
Condolence: I first met Doug in the late 80's while giving a talk about high altitude balloons at the AMSAT conference (he was President of AMSAT at the time). He became quite interested in amateur radio ballooning and co-founded ARBONET (Amateur Radio Balloons Over North East Texas). Doug and I moderated the annual BalloonSat Forum at the Dayton Hamvention for many years and we would team up to launch a balloon after the forum. He was a great friend and inspiration to all. He is now soaring higher than any balloon could possibly fly. - Bill Brown WB8ELK

Condolence From: Amy Logsdon
Condolence: I remember first meeting Doug and thinking what a kind man he was and how much I was going to enjoy working with him.

Anything you asked from Doug, he always delivered, and always with a smile. I knew if I asked him for help, then help and follow through was what I was going to get. A true joy to work with.

I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Overwhelming sympathy exudes from my heart to his family and friends.

Condolence From: Steve Yates - AA5TB
Condolence: It was very sad to hear about Doug. I first met him when we put together an AMSAT ground station at the Soviet Space Exhibit in Fort Worth in 1991. He helped put Fort Worth on the map for the cosmonauts on the MIR Space Station. He was good man and well respected, especially in the ham radio community.
