Obituary for Jack Edwin Nelson II

Jack Edwin Nelson II
JACK EDWIN NELSON, of Paris, passed from this life Friday August 14, 2015 at his residence. Following cremation arrangements, Starrett Funeral Home will conduct graveside rites at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday August 19, 2015 in Evergreen Cemetery, with Rev. Terry Rodgers officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

Jack was born June 16, 1949 in Paducah, Texas, a son of Jack E. and Latrice Joy Finch Nelson. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, then was employed by Babcock and Wilcox as a machinist, later working for Turner Pipe, Inc.
He was of the Baptist faith, and a former member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Paris Lodge. Jack loved to fish, and play shuffleboard. One of his greatest joys was to accompany his sons to soccer, and he rarely missed a game. He loved to spend time with family and friends, especially spoiling his grandchildren. Jack was a resourceful man, yet liberal with anything he had. Only eternity will reveal the times that he spent helping others. He loved with a pure love and helped with a giving heart.

On March 3, 1972 he married Patricia Gail Jones, in Paris. To their union was born two sons, Jack E. Nelson, III of Paris, and Ricky Shawn Nelson, of Paris; two grandchildren, Brittani Nicole Nelson and Dalton Seth Nelson; one great-grandchild, Tansley Marie Smith; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Bonnie Bell Jones; two brothers-in-law, Mike Jones and Ricky Jones; a sister-in-law, Lou Gossett; and by several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends
.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Nelson; and an infant sister.
