Obituary for Hubert Eugene Foster

Hubert Eugene Foster
HUBERT EUGENE FOSTER, 85, of Deport, passed from this life Thursday January 29, 2015 at the Clyde Cosper State Veterans Home in Bonham. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday February 2. 2015 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home, with private interment following in Meadowbrook Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Gene was born August 1, 1929 in Abilene, a son of Charles Hiram and Jewel Akin Foster. He was of the Baptist faith. He served his country honorably in the United States Marines serving in the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged just prior to the beginning of the Vietnam war. He thought he was lucky, so he never re-enlisted.

He married Norma Lou Ford, of Rugby, on March 23, 1950. She preceded him in death September 10, 2004, after over fifty-four years of life and love. Gene loved to drive and drove for TNM&O, Greyhound, Continental Trailways, and Sunset Stages. Later he became an owner/operator trucker and he was joined by his wife Norma, traveling some forty states. They owned a small cattle ranch and farm which they sold before moving to Clyde, Texas for five years before retiring to Paris, where they moved to be near Norma's parents. Upon Norma's death, Gene sold their Paris home and moved to Deport in 2005. Gene was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cross Plains, Texas, then joined the Paris lodge, where he is still a member in good standing.

Survivors include two children, Debbie Vellucci of Port Richey Florida and Gary Duane Foster of Clyde; four grandchildren, Kristi, Eric, Cade and Kailey; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife Norma, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Foster and his wife Lucille and Billy Wayne Foster and wife Jo.
