Obituary for Ann Tomblin

Ann  Tomblin
MARY LOU ANN TOMBLN, 77, of Paris entered the loving arms of her Savior on Monday, March 10th, 2014. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wedneday March 12, 2014 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home with the Reverend Charles Higgs and Steve Gunter officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born in Lamar County to Lloyd Clifton and Mary Nadine Ware Nicholson. She lived in Fannin County a few short years but spent the rest of her years in Paris. She was known by her family as Ann, her husband’s family as Mary, and by her school classmates as Mary Lou. She graduated from West Lamar High School where she enjoyed playing basketball, being on the drill team, cheerleading and participating in the junior and senior plays.

She found the love of her life, Roy Wayne Tomblin, and they were married on April 13, 1956. They enjoyed camping and traveling with close friends.

She passed her love for Jesus to her children, Mark and Suzanne. She had a heart full of love for her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for fifty-four years where she taught Sunday School, Bible Studies, Vacation Bible School and was in the choir. Through the years she had the joy of watching many in her classes become ministers, missionaries, youth leaders and teachers of the Word of God.

She worked for Dr. Lawrence Mann for thirty-four years as office manager. She loved her job and the ladies who were his patients.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Loretta Joyce Nicholson, one brother-in-law Alex B. Pearson and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Wayne Tomblin, her son Mark Wayne Tomblin and wife Angie of Livingston; daughter Suzanne Smith and husband Greg of Powderly. Her grandsons; Jared and Nathan Smith, Colby Remsing, and Timothy Tomblin. Her granddaughters; Brandi Remsing Sutton and husband Steven, Kathryn Denise McClenan, Lauren Suzanne Honey and husband Josh, and Emily Ann Tomblin. Great granddaughters; Rebekah, Carleigh Jane, Delanna McClenan and Jerrisa Remsing.

She is also survived by one brother; Lloyd Curtis Nicholson and wife Nina Gene of Honey Grove, and one sister Donna Jean Pearson of Fort Worth, along with numerous extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jared Smith, Nathan Smith, Colby Remsing, Timothy Tomblin, Josh Honey, and Greg Smith.

The family wishes to thank Shatajna Woods for the love and care shown to Ann during her illness, and for the love she extended to all of us.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church building fund – 1771 Bonham Street, Paris, TX 75460.
